TikToker Eixchel Berroteran recently shared her harrowing experience of narrowly escaping an alleged murder attempt by her former stepfather, Luis Damas. The incident occurred on August 21, 2024, when Damas allegedly broke into her Miami apartment armed with a gun, intending to kill both Eixchel and her mother, Francys Damas. In an emotional Instagram post dated August 27, Eixchel recounted the traumatic event, explaining that Damas blamed her for his failed marriage to Francys, which had ended eight months earlier after 13 years.
Eixchel described the moment as one of sheer terror, believing that her life was about to end. However, she credited her faith in God and the love she shares with her mother for giving her the strength to fight back. According to a police report obtained by NBC News 6, Eixchel narrowly escaped being shot as her mother bravely intervened, fending off Damas from behind. Francys eventually managed to calm him down, convincing him that she would help clean up any evidence and that she would not contact the authorities, thus persuading him to leave their home.
Despite her mother’s efforts to deescalate the situation, Francys and Eixchel reported the incident to the police the following day. Luis Damas was subsequently arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including attempted murder, aggravated assault with a firearm, burglary with assault or battery, attempted tampering with physical evidence, false imprisonment, and felony battery. He appeared in court on August 24 and was ordered to be held without bond. E! News attempted to contact Damas’ attorney for comment but received no response.
